lesson #11: thrifty is good

Speaking as a regular at the Goodwill, it is essential to appreciate beauty and inspiration from the thriftiest of places.  The price tag does not always indicate the value of an item, a lesson that is good to know in both the most figurative and literal terms.

Go to the resale shops.  Search through the bad bowling shirts and frumpy house dresses until you find "it."  What It will be exactly, well that's hard to say.  For me, recently, It has taken forms such as a killer pair of clogs, a classic pair of denim overall shorts, and even a high end sweatshirt that was marked down at least $60 to a mere 7 bucks.  Wash it.  Wear it.  Most of the time, no one can even tell, unless of course you want them to.  Which I always do.

Another cool deal I tried recently is  http://www.somethingstore.com. The Something Store is run by Google, whom I love.  Basically, for $10, they will send you something.  Again, hard to say what exactly, but it could definitely be just the It you've been missing.

I got a unique calendar.  Hey, for $10, I thought it was worth a shot.  Now, if only I could remember to keep it accurate...
